Entrance gate Volksabdij

The Volksabdij, as a designated Nature Gate, marks the entry point to the Brabantse Wal, an area where the sandy soil of the steep, winding escarpment contrasts with the low-lying, sea clay of the polders. This can make a walking or cycling tour extra active and challenging! Expect to see beautiful forests, heathland, sand dunes and fens here. For the little ones, you will find a miniature forest with exciting play elements and a dog-walking zone for your four-legged friend.

No catering or toilet facilities are currently available at Poort Volksabdij, but walkers and cyclists can use this as a starting point for the many cycling and hiking tours that depart from this gate.

Access

Access Gate Volksabdij is easily accessible by bicycle, public transport and car. We encourage you to come to the gate and enjoy nature in a sustainable way.

• By bus: From Bergen op Zoom and Putte, the gate is easily accessible by the 104 bus (Roosendaal - Hoogerheide ), the 105 bus (Ossendrecht - Bergen op Zoom) and the 106 bus (Putte - Bergen op Zoom ), all run by the Arriva bus company. • By bicycle: the entrance gate is easily accessible by bicycle. A bicycle shed is available, where you can park your bike while you go for a stroll.
• By car: free parking is available at Volksabdij.
