In the last weekend of October, Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide will again be completely dedicated to silence. On the occasion of the International Day of Silence (Sunday 26 October), Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide and various partners invite you to experience the power of silence in nature together.
As an officially recognised 3-star area of silence, the Grenspark offers a unique environment where peace, nature and contemplation come together. During a silence weekend, you can participate in various activities that invite you to stop, listen and experience how valuable silence is in our busy lives.
From a meditative walk in the castle garden at Ravenhof to playful challenges for children at De Vroente, Duurzaam Educatiepunt and a quiet discovery tour through the Arboretum: there is something for everyone.
Let yourself be guided by nature guide and meditation trainer Bram Terleede (IVN Groene Zoom) on a special tour through the Ravenhof castle garden. In this historical setting with stately avenues, old trees and baroque park landscaping, discover the healing power of silence and meditation. Info and registration.
Experience the peace and beauty of the Kalmthoutse Heide during a guided silence walk by Visit Kalmthout. A guide will take you on a voyage of discovery and tell you about the history of this silence area, but above all, you will be invited to really listen: to the wind, the rustling of the trees, the singing of birds. An experience for young and old. Info and registration.
During a one-and-a-half-hour silence visit through the arboretum garden, a guide invites you to listen attentively. Not to stories about trees or botanical facts this time, but to the sounds of a Sunday morning in Arboretum Kalmthout. Together with a guide, you will explore plants and the places in Arboretum Kalmthout where you can hear remarkable things: the rustling of bamboo, the twittering of moorhens or the swirling of autumn leaves. The guide uses different listening techniques and methods to experience the garden in a totally different way. An unforgettable autumn experience for young and old. Info and registration.
On the Day of Silence, everything is about really getting some peace and quiet. At De Vroente, Duurzaam Educatiepunt, you can choose from the silence bag or the 25 nature challenges, many of which take place in the silence area. Find a quiet spot, sit down and make it quiet. Look for the sounds of nature. Or try to merge into the surroundings while remaining mouse-still. Do you dare to combine silence and play? Book your challenges on the Day of Silence and receive a gift on your return: Nature is much more exciting in the dark... Book here.
Due to limited places, registration is required. Click on the activities below for more information.
