Do you like the alternation of forest and open spaces? Then this walk is for you. The route first takes you past forests growing on dune landscapes. You will find both old and young forest here and you will immediately experience why you are walking through the so-called 'Stoppelbergen': the stubble or sloping dunes have a height difference of up to 5 to 10 metres in some places and are typical of the Brabantse Wal. There are many maritime pines in this area; they can be recognised by their very long needles and large pine cones. On this walk, you also pass open spaces and the agricultural areas of the Koude Heide. If you would like a longer walk, you can combine Squirrel with the Woodpecker walk (4.3 km).
