The Kalmthoutse Heide has been part of the UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark Schelde Delta since 27 March 2024. It is one of the largest Geoparks in the world.
The Kalmthoutse Heide was created by various geological processes that are explained during this walk. The 'shape' changes over the past 11,000 years are discussed. Attention is also given to the different biotopes of the area as we know it today.
Cultural-historical issues will also be discussed during this walk.
For this walk, it is necessary to put on good walking shoes. Binoculars can also be useful, but are not essential.
