Meditative Silence Walk Moretusbos & Castle Garden Ravenhof
On Saturday 25 October, our nature guide - also a meditation trainer - Bram Terleede of IVN Groene Zoom will again lead the annual meditative silence walk. This special experience invites you to open your senses and enjoy moments of deep silence and meditation, in the peaceful surroundings of the Ravenhof castle gardens on the Moretus estate in Stabroek.
The walk takes place in the Ravenhof castle gardens on the Moretus estate. Here you will find a stately park forest with many cultural-historical elements, beautiful avenues with striking trees and differences in height in the landscape. It is truly a picturesque part of Grenspark, laid out in the late Baroque style.
The history of the domain dates back to the fourteenth century. The neo-Lodewijk XV-style castle was built in the 19th and 20th centuries by the Moretus family. The municipality of Stabroek bought the castle, outbuildings and park in 1979. The Moretus woods were purchased by the Dutch organisation Staatsbosbeheer.
This valuable heritage site is protected as a monument (the castle) and as a village sight (surrounding park). Today, this site is managed by Kempens Landschap and the municipality of Stabroek. The castle gardens are the perfect setting for a meditative journey for the senses.
