Junior Rangers in Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide
There they are again: a gang of enthusiastic Junior Rangers in the Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide.
From September 2022 to June 2023, a group of Dutch and Flemish youngsters (aged 12 to 16) will set off in the Grenspark. They will work as real rangers: going out with a real forester, studying typical plants and animals and rolling up their sleeves during nature management. They will be immersed in the moors.

"The Grenspark has had a Junior Rangers operation for some time now by organising an annual summer camp for 13- to 18-year-olds. And De Vroente also already has an operation with the Libelhamelclub in which 6 to 12-year-olds experience nature in the Border Grenspark every month. But... there was a demand for more. Last year we started a teenage operation. With success", says Sofie Regniers, head of the centre at De Vroente.
Twelve young people from Flanders and the Netherlands came together once a month in school year 2021-2022. They did fun nature activities and also rolled up their sleeves. They concluded with a smashing two-day event in Ossendrecht. Thus they became ambassadors of one of our most beautiful nature reserves. A new group of friends got them right on top. After a test year, everyone was unanimous: we will continue with this.

Learning goes hand in hand with fun because the Rangers of the Grenspark are accompanied by two rock-solid and enthusiastic guides: Daan and Linsy. This year, they are assisted by intern Inez from UAntwerpen.
