This 8.5 km walk is an outlier in the range of marked walks. The walk starts at the Hemelrijk site (Moerkantsebaan 50) at the Kiekenhoeve and Karrenmuseum and VVV Essen and leads you through quiet avenues and lanes to the Grenspark where you can join other walking routes.
Thanks to this footpath, the furthest gateway to the Grenspark is connected to the nature reserve. The signposts feature a picture of a high bi. That precursor of the modern bicycle refers to Henri Calmeyn, who owned most of the Essen-Hoek district at the beginning of the last century. He was the first Essener with a bicycle and used it to ride to the Stappersven to hunt ducks and geese.
