Volunteers' evening 17 June - celebrate 25 years of Grenspark with us

Dear volunteer,

For 25 years, Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide has been growing and flourishing thanks to people like you. That deserves a moment to reflect and celebrate together.

Whether you guide, monitor species, maintain footpaths, keep mountain bike routes in top shape, inspire young people as a Junior Ranger or Libelhamel guide, keep watch in the fire tower or receive visitors: your commitment makes a difference to nature every day. Therefore, we cordially invite you to a fun and inspiring volunteer evening.

During this evening we will highlight something special: Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide exists 25 years! A quarter of a century ago, Flanders and the Netherlands joined forces within the Benelux to protect and strengthen this unique border area as a park. Since 2001, partners and volunteers have been working together on one shared ambition: strong nature without borders: two countries, one nature. We would like to celebrate this beautiful milestone with you.

๐Ÿ“… Wednesday 17 June 2026
๐Ÿ•–19.00 - 22.00 (walk-in from 18.30)
๐Ÿ“De De Vroente, Putsesteenweg 129, 2920 Kalmthout

We will start with coffee, tea and cake, followed by a welcome by managing director Jan Weverbergh and chairman Lukas Jacobs. Then ecologist Tom Pinceel will take you through the story of water in the Grenspark and its coherence within the area.

Afterwards, you can join one of the following excursions (choice on site, full = full):

  • Visit to the fire tower with a unique insight into the fire watch room
  • Guided tour of De Vroente, exhibition and visit to Visit Kalmthout
  • Experience the blind path with simulation glasses, guided by Eddy Van Oers
  • Visit to the ANB shed "De Buizerd" and meeting the nature workers
  • Excursion in private area of Zwartvenbos with insight in nature management works. (Own transport, preferably bicycle or carpool)

We look forward to celebrating 25 years of the Grenspark together, catching up and gaining new insights.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Please confirm your attendance below by 1 June.
