On Monday 18 March 2024, the Grenspark together with IVN Natuureducatie organised the annual network meeting for the hosts and nature guides of Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide, with the theme 'regional products'. It was an inspiring network meeting, hosted by Kampeerboerderij de Boskeelen in an appropriate setting. All attendees brought their favourite regional product and took us through the story behind it.
Thomas Verboven of Visit Kalmthout shared further valuable insights on the values and importance of regional products and the opportunities for the area, local entrepreneurs and the hospitality industry:
After the informative part, the regional delicacies were eagerly tasted and compared. Thanks to the managers of Camping Farm de Boskeelen for their hospitality, tour and info on their beef cows, farm campsite and farm shop.
To round off the meeting, foresters Imke and Bram from the Forestry Commission took us on a tour of the Stoppelbergen area and provided information on the usefulness and importance of rejuvenation/ clearing and conversion to more varied forests. At the Forestry Commission's work shed, we concluded the more than successful afternoon with a refreshing regional beer and local apple juice.
We would like to thank all participants once again for this enriching afternoon of culinary discoveries!
Thanks to Dirk Verbist for the photos.
