On Monday 4 March 2024, partners of Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide met at Arboretum Kalmthout for a fascinating workshop on the Interreg MONA project.
With the support of the European grant project Interreg MONA and the municipalities involved (Essen, Woensdrecht, Kalmthout and Stabroek), Grenspark is working towards a future in which sustainable connections and improved visitor experience are central. Through this project, Grenspark, together with stakeholders and research partners, wants to exchange knowledge and identify challenges and opportunities around mobility and recreation in and around Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide.

During these first exchanges, the partners went deeper into the objectives of the Interreg MONA project. Key themes covered during the workshop were:
After the workshop, the group explored the area around the station in Kalmthout and together walked the 'last mile' to the fire and observation tower. By experiencing for themselves what information a visitor needs and encounters, the supply of information and infrastructure can be improved.
Many thanks to BUas (Breda University of Applied Sciences) and KULeuven for their expert guidance during the workshop, and to all our partners for their valuable input! Together we took the first steps towards a sustainable course for Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide.
