The weekend of 24 and 25 October 2026 will see two special events coincide: the Night of the Night and the Day of Silence. Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide and the Karrenmuseum are bringing both themes together in a unique evening where darkness, silence and music converge.
During the ‘Night of the Night’ on 24 October, the Karrenmuseum will open its doors for a unique listening experience. Amidst the wooden carts and tools, in a museum that during the day buzzes with stories of craftsmanship and trade, a world of tranquillity emerges for one evening. Here, Antwerp-based harpist Laura De Jongh will take you on a journey into her own, captivating world of sound.
When night falls, the Karrenmuseum takes on a completely different character. The wooden carts and tools, which during the day bear witness to the craftsmanship of past generations, become the backdrop for an intimate musical experience.
And then there is the silence. The space between two notes, the fading of a note and the moment when there is briefly no sound at all are all part of Laura’s compositions. Her music invites you to slow down, listen attentively and lose yourself completely in the moment.
Drawing on her classical harp training, Laura De Jongh creates a sound world entirely of her own, in which natural acoustics and electronically distorted sounds converge. Her meandering compositions move between ambient, new age and field recordings, leaving room for tranquillity and wonder.
Her debut EP, *Fundus*, was released in 2025 on Klankhaven Records. The record was named number 1 in the list of 350 favourite albums of 2025 by Thurston Moore, musician, writer and co-founder of Sonic Youth.
An intimate experience in a unique setting. Come and listen to what happens when night falls and the world grows a little quieter.
The concert will take place in the atmospheric, nocturnal setting of the Karrenmuseum. So be sure to wrap up warm. An extra layer or a fleece blanket to wrap around you could certainly come in handy.
