Last Saturday, 2 December, mountain bike enthusiasts and volunteers came together for the first Dig & Ride Event, organised by the Grenspark Trail Builders in collaboration with Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide.
A beaming sun welcomed participants for a morning of joint efforts on the mountain bike trails, followed by an afternoon of riding fun and various activities.

With shovels and rakes in hand, water pits and bowl bends at route green/purple were successfully tackled, thanks to the efforts of many helping hands. After an active morning, participants gathered for a pleasant lunch at Taverne De Leeuw van Vlaanderen. Chairman of Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide Martin Groffen and alderman Jeffrey van Agtmaal of Woensdrecht municipality thanked the Grenspark Trail Builders volunteers for their commitment in their speech.
"Woensdrecht municipality has invested in the MTB routes because they bring people together and offer sporty recreationists a wonderful way to enjoy nature. The many compliments we receive for the beautifully maintained routes testify to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers," said councillor Jeffrey van Agtmaal.
Throughout the day, there was a convivial, casual atmosphere. The first job day was considered very successful, and the organisers stressed that this is just the beginning of many future joint efforts.
"This day has shown how much potential there is when people with a shared passion work together. We look forward to the next job days and call on all mountain bike enthusiasts to take part in a Dig & Ride Event one day," said Roel Camps of Grenspark Trail Builders.
