"Bumblebees" ... who doesn't know them! These large woolly bees, often black with yellow or grey bands and a yellow, white or orange to red abdomen are very striking insects. It seems easy to distinguish them, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Recognising these fluffy critters is often harder than thought. Hence, this spring we are taking part in the national "Bumblebee Weekend", initiated by Insect Working Group Aculea, and taking the interested nature lover on a towpath to get to know these intriguing and very useful animals better. This walk is also suitable for children.
