Fire risk in nature reserves

With warmer and drier summers, fire in nature reserves is a real risk. All the more reason to be well prepared.

Fire risk is assessed daily using a fire warning index, to which four successive alert phases (green, yellow, orange and red) are linked. This is in connection with supervision and preparedness of fire services, managers and other emergency services.

It is very dry and fire hazardous in nature reserves. Be careful, do not smoke in nature reserves and forests. Do not leave children unsupervised in the area. Fire-making is prohibited.

Administrators and the fire brigade are extra vigilant. If a fire breaks out, the fire brigade steps up its efforts. More equipment and manpower are deployed.

The fire towers are manned based on hazard assessments by managers and fire services.
